May We Never Meet Again

Chapter 17

Edward Quan ·

As Jiang Zhixu lost consciousness, he murmured, “Shushu, I'm sorry. Please forgive me…”

The ambulance arrived quickly and took him to the hospital.

But the doctor said the knife had gone too deep. Whether he woke again depended entirely on his will to live.

Ji Shu called his parents.

After learning what had happened, they didn't blame her. Instead, they apologized on his behalf.

“Shushu, I know you're a good girl. Our Zhixu lost his way. He did so many things to hurt you. Now he's dying. Can you forgive him?”

Ji Shu nodded.

“Please take him home. Whether he lives or dies, there's nothing between us anymore. If he survives, tell him not to come looking for me.”

His parents took him back to China.

Several months later, Ji Shu heard news of him from her own parents.

He had woken up and moved away with his family.

Where they had gone, she didn't know.

Nor did she want to.

After completing her studies in Britain, she returned to China with Lin Qingyu. They became doctors at a hospital in Sucheng.

They married and lived with her parents. Their days were happy.

Three years later, she gave birth to a baby girl who looked just like Lin Qingyu.

As she was wheeled back to her room after the birth, she thought she saw Jiang Zhixu in the corridor.

Only thought so.

The figure disappeared too quickly to be sure.

Ji Shu frowned faintly.

She seemed to have forgotten what his face looked like.

Some things, some people, are meant to be forgotten.

Jiang Zhixu, in another life, may we never meet again.
