Chapter 4
Edward Quan ·
Chen Yiyue narrowed his eyes at me. “What? Don’t recognize your ex-boyfriend?”
“I…”
The “smoking-gun evidence” was right in front of me. I had no way to deny it.
Unless I told him the truth. But to keep the baby, I gritted my teeth and admitted it.
When I nodded, Chen Yiyue sneered and suddenly kicked his chair back as he stood.
A cruel look flashed through his eyes. He took off his tie and wound it several times around his palm.
The movement was elegant, but it reeked of violence.
“Young Master Chen, I was wrong! I was wrong! I don’t even know this girl—”
Hao Yuan didn’t get to finish.
Chen Yiyue grabbed him by the collar and lifted him up, then punched him straight in the corner of the mouth.
“Who said you could call her a girl like that?
“Who said you could look at her?”
Every punch landed with a sickening thud.
Smack, smack, smack! Even my heart jolted.
At this rate, he might beat the man to death!
“Chen Yiyue! Wait…”
Chen Yiyue paused and turned to look at me, his gaze dark.
“Feeling sorry for him?”
“Zhang Yumian, you’re Mrs. Chen now. Try saying one word to plead for him.”
“…”
Forget it. He was a scumbag who toyed with women. Beating him up was practically doing heaven’s work.
By the end, Hao Yuan’s face was battered and bruised. He covered his head and wailed.
“Young Master Chen! I’ve never slept with her. I really don’t remember anything…
“I, Hao Yuan, have been wronged! Young Master Chen, I really have been wronged…”
“You think you can play dead and deny it to me?”
Chen Yiyue crouched in front of him and patted his face.
“Is she the kind of woman you can use and throw away? Someone like you? You think you’re worthy?
“She’s Chen Yiyue’s wife now—and she will be from now on.
“If you dare go near her again, or even touch a single hair on her head… I’ll chop you up and feed you to the dogs.”
…
When Chen Yiyue came out, a few spots of blood had splashed onto his clothes.
I was under an umbrella held by the bodyguards at the door. I hurried over. “Are you… all right?”
Had he actually beaten the man to death?!
“What? Worried about him?”
“No, no! I’m worried about you. I couldn’t care less if that guy lives or dies!”
Afraid he’d see through me, I nervously peeked inside.
The next second, my feet left the ground. Chen Yiyue scooped me into his arms and shoved me into the car.
“You say you’re not worried about him, but you’ve peeked inside several times.”
Chen Yiyue pressed me down onto the back seat. His gaze was intensely possessive, and it made me panic.
“I-I wasn’t looking…”
“Still stubborn, Zhang Yumian. How could you fall for a piece of trash like that?”
“D-don’t come so close…”
I tried to push him away, but he pinned both my hands above my head.
He leaned down over me, his hot breath enveloping my face.
“Once the baby’s born with the Chen surname, maybe its IQ can be salvaged a little. If it takes after you or him, it’ll be a lost cause.”
“But weren’t we supposed to get divorced then?”
The hand gripping my waist suddenly tightened.
Chen Yiyue asked coldly, “Divorce? Are you still dreaming of marrying him?”
“I…”
“Zhang Yumian, how dare you hesitate?”
Chen Yiyue laughed as if I’d enraged him. He abruptly sealed his lips over mine, kissing and biting me.
“You give me that sour face, but you let him sleep with you. Am I really that bad? Am I not better-looking or stronger than him?
“Zhang Yumian, you must be blind. What kind of rotten taste is that?”
His tone was vicious.
My nose stung, and suddenly I felt terribly wronged.
“Chen Yiyue, you’re scolding me again!”
Chen Yiyue froze slightly. “You’re going to cry again?”
But when he saw that my tears weren’t stopping—in fact, they were pouring down—he panicked completely.
“I won’t say anything else, okay? I won’t.”
“Waaah! You’re just taking this chance to laugh at me. I’m pregnant, and you’re still being so mean…”
“Okay, okay, I was wrong. Hubby was wrong. Hubby deserves to die. I’ll slap myself. Don’t cry, okay? Please stop crying.”
Chen Yiyue lowered his head and kissed away my tears. His voice softened as he patiently coaxed me.
“I’ll take responsibility for you and the baby. I’ll support you both for the rest of your lives.”
As he spoke, he lifted the hem of my skirt.
His long fingers traced up my thigh.
“Be good, Yumian… Let Hubby take care of you and make you feel good, okay?”
My eyes were blurred with tears. By the time I came to my senses, my dress was lying on the floor.
“Chen Yiyue, what are you doing—ah…”

They say a man’s mouth is full of lies. They’re not wrong.
He’d said he would comfort me and take care of me. Clearly, he just wanted to… do that!
When I woke, I was lying in the bed in my apartment’s bedroom.
My fingers felt weak and sore, so much that I could barely curl them into a fist.
My collarbone and the rest of my body were covered in shameful marks.
I lay sprawled on the bed, cursing that bastard of a man, before reluctantly dragging myself up.
