My Nemesis, My Baby’s Father

Chapter 3

I felt awkward. I hurriedly finished my congee and stood up. “Thanks for the congee. I should get going…”

“Zhang Yumian.”

Chen Yiyue suddenly called me back.

His usual teasing tone carried an unusual note of seriousness.

I turned to him. “What?”

“Let’s get married.”

“Oh… What?!”

Even after walking out of the civil affairs bureau with our marriage certificates in hand, I was still dazed.

I had actually married Chen Yiyue.

If word got out, half of Beijing would probably be scared out of their wits.

Oh, and I’d married while already carrying a “baby.”

That would scare the other half.

Chen Yiyue finished a video call with his grandfather. When he turned back and saw me standing there in a stupor, he casually wrapped an arm around my waist.

“Don’t you know it’s dangerous for a pregnant woman to stand on the steps?”

The gesture was too intimate. I wasn’t used to it and reflexively tried to step out of his embrace.

“D-don’t get handsy…”

“Mrs. Chen.”

Chen Yiyue lowered his head, his thin lips brushing the tip of my nose.

“We’re legally married now. This is me showing affection to my wife. It deserves praise.”

His voice was warm and amused.

Especially the way he said “wife”—it sounded lingering and… suggestive.

My cheeks inexplicably heated up, and I couldn’t help remembering that passionate night.

When he pressed close and trembled against my ear, I learned that… men could moan too.

“What are you spacing out for? Thinking about someone?”

The hand at my waist gave me a sharp, punitive squeeze.

I heard the word “someone” and, guilty as a thief, blurted out instinctively, “The baby isn’t yours!”

The moment the words left my mouth, I came to my senses.

I looked up and met Chen Yiyue’s gloomy expression.

His gaze looked as if he wanted to devour me.

“Zhang Yumian, now that we’re married, you’re still pining after that musclebound jerk?”

“Mm… Just a random thought. A random thought.”

Chen Yiyue’s eyes turned even colder.

Huh? What had I said wrong?

Sigh. When life forced your hand, your old enemy became your sugar daddy—

We’d signed a contract. Our marriage would last one year. He’d pay me fifty million, and I’d help him deal with his family.

For the money, I had to endure it!

I thought for a moment, then patted my 36D chest as I assured him:

“It’s only a contract marriage. After a year, we’ll divorce, and I’ll take my baby and leave. I absolutely won’t cling to you!

“Anyway, you know I could never like you.”

Chen Yiyue’s gaze had been cold.

Now it froze over completely.

What a bastard. Why was he so hard to please?

Chen Yiyue sneered. His tone made it impossible to tell whether he was annoyed or amused. “You’ve thought this through very thoroughly.”

“Of course. I don’t want to cause my sugar daddy any extra trouble! I’ll do my utmost to fulfill all my duties.”

I hurried to pledge my loyalty.

“Do your utmost? Then you’ll also fulfill a wife’s basic duty, won’t you?”

“What duty?”

“Sleep with me.”

My eyes widened. “I’m pregnant! H-how are we supposed to do that?”

Chen Yiyue gave a cold snort. “What does being pregnant have to do with it? Don’t you still have a mouth?”

I froze.

When I understood what he meant, my whole face rapidly turned red.

“Chen Yiyue, you shameless—”

Before I could finish, Chen Yiyue suddenly lowered his head and kissed me.

The kiss came fiercely, carrying an inexplicable flare of anger. His lips and tongue kissed mine until they stung.

I whimpered, but he held the back of my head firmly, kissing me with growing abandon.

In the end, I had to bite him to make him let go. I angrily scolded him:

“Chen Yiyue! Your kissing is still as bad as ever. It’s nowhere near as good as that night—”

Damn it!

I’d let it slip!

I met Chen Yiyue’s eyes as they narrowed abruptly and quickly changed course. “…Nowhere near as good as my ex-boyfriend’s kiss that night. There’s no comparison!”

Between digging my own grave and getting found out, I chose to dig.

Chen Yiyue laughed in anger.

“You’re standing in front of your newlywed husband, and the first thing out of your mouth is your ex-boyfriend. Very good, Zhang Yumian. You’re very good.

“Do you think I can’t find that ex of yours?”

Of course he couldn’t.

How could he find someone who didn’t exist?

I refused to believe Chen Yiyue had some supernatural power.

It turned out I had to believe it.

Three days later, Chen Yiyue dragged a man over and threw him in front of me. I was stunned.

“H-he’s…”

“Hao Yuan, the third young master of Beijing’s Hao family. A useless rich playboy and a genuine nightclub regular. You couldn’t count all the women he’s slept with even if you loaded them onto ten trucks. More than thirty women have already cut their wrists over him…”

Chen Yiyue raised a hand.

His assistant placed a photograph in front of me.

It was a full-face picture of the muscular man I’d hidden behind a crop on my social feed.

“Isn’t this the man in the picture you posted—the one whose face you cut off?”

Me: “…”

Damn it. I’d just grabbed some random picture online. How had it actually turned out to be a member of Beijing’s elite?
