Talking at Cross Purposes

Chapter 3

Found out what?

My heart tightened.

Chen Xi looked startled too.

“You’re sure?”

Xu Yanqing shook his head weakly.

“No.

“We almost… the other night. Luckily, I pushed her away in time.

“She looked at me strangely afterward.

“Do you think she noticed something?”

“No use overthinking it,” Chen Xi said. “Why not tell her the truth?”

“No. She absolutely cannot know.”

His friend sighed.

“Honestly, I don’t know what to say to you.”

Xu Yanqing gave a bitter smile.

“What am I supposed to do?

“How do I hide it so she doesn’t find out?

“Have you got any ideas?”

Chen Xi said a great deal.

I heard none of it.

One thought filled my head.

Xu Yanqing was cheating.

No wonder he wouldn’t let me touch him.

He was saving himself for another woman.

I was furious.

I couldn’t stand another second.

I took out my phone and hammered out a message.

【We’re done!】

I stumbled home.

Within minutes, someone was pounding on the door.

It could only be him.

Fine. We could settle it face to face.

I let him in.

His expression was grim.

“Why are you suddenly breaking up with me?”

I laughed coldly.

“Don’t you know why?”

He paused and looked away.

“I don’t know what you mean.”

I laughed again.

“Xu Yanqing, do you think I’m stupid?

“When you started hiding from me and refusing to let me touch you, you should have known this day would come.

“If you’d said something earlier, we could have parted peacefully.

“But you chose to lie!”

His eyes trembled.

His hand clenched.

“You… know?”

“I didn’t mean to deceive you.

“I just…”

He wanted to explain.

Then seemed to realize it was useless.

He had no excuse.

Helplessly, he lowered his gaze.

“I’m sorry.”

His voice was hoarse.

What good was sorry?

“Fine. Go.

“Let’s not contact each other again.”

He clenched his teeth.

His eyes reddened, hurt and unwilling to accept it.

His feet might as well have been nailed to the floor.

I lost my patience.

“If you don’t leave, I’ll call the police!”

He broke.

His hoarse voice rose in accusation.

“You think I wanted to hide it?

“I know you can’t handle eighteen centimeters!

“But it isn’t my fault it’s that long!

“How can you break up with me over that?

“Three years together, and you can just throw it away!

“Yu Xiaoqiao, you have no heart!”

What was he talking about?

Who would complain that it was too big…

Wait.

He had eighteen centimeters?

9

No. No!

What was I focusing on?

Was that the point?

He almost derailed me.

I snapped, “You cheated first! How dare you blame me!”

He stared.

Two seconds of silence.

Then he exploded.

“When did I cheat?

“You’re slandering me!

“How could I do that to you?”

I went quiet.

He was too agitated.

Too angry.

It didn’t look fake.

When I said nothing, he laughed in disbelief.

“You don’t believe me?”

He tossed me his phone.

Gave me every app login and his bank-card passwords.

“Check.

“Don’t know how?

“Look on Xiaohongshu. Plenty of guides to catching cheaters!”

An hour later, I handed it back.

He snorted.

“Did I cheat?”

“No.”

“Is there another woman in my heart?”

“No.”

I knew I was wrong.

I apologized honestly.

“Sorry. I didn’t get the facts straight.”

His wounded eyes reddened.

I found it absurd.

The secret he had been hiding was his own generous endowment.

Most men would want to announce it to the world.

Why was he insecure?

Did it look impressive but not work?

I was too curious.

I couldn’t help asking, “You really have eighteen centimeters?”

He hesitated.

“Actually… almost nineteen.”

Oh my god.

“I don’t believe you.”

He grew anxious.

“Measure it. Then you’ll know I’m not lying!”

…

Was that… appropriate?

I dug out a tape measure.

10

In the end, we never measured.

Not because we didn’t want to.

The process got a little out of hand.

The next day, I ached all over.

I felt ready to fall apart.

He carefully massaged me.

“Last night… were you satisfied?”

I blushed.

“I’m… not used to it yet.”

He had been very careful.

Very gentle.

It still hurt a little.

He was rather generously endowed, after all.

He immediately tensed.

“I’m sorry. I’m inexperienced. I’ll be more careful next time.”

Then he stopped.

Panicked.

“Wait… There will be a next time, won’t there?”

What kind of question was that?

I hadn’t had nearly enough.

I reassured him.

“Don’t worry. There will.”

He breathed out.

“Then… do you still want to measure? I can get ready. Or you can do it yourself…”

I clapped a hand over his mouth.

My face burned.

“Stop talking!”

Misunderstanding resolved.

Relationship repaired.

Man successfully slept with.

I was in a wonderful mood.

Xu Yanqing, however, had changed.

He used to object strongly to living together before marriage.

Now he wanted to stay at my place every day.

He had become very possessive too.

Any conversation with another man upset him.

One extra sentence to the delivery guy could earn me a barrage of questions.

But the moment I showed the slightest irritation, he went quiet.

Every day, he watched my expression.

Terribly insecure.

Understandable, I supposed.

We had only just given ourselves to each other.

Guarding his food was only natural.
