You Looked Down on the Wrong Deliveryman

Chapter 3

Then a storm of curses broke out.

The chairman pushed through the crowd and approached Lin Tingting, his face livid.

“What the hell have you done?”

“Are you trying to poison all our clients?”

Her legs weakened in terror. Her voice shook.

“Chairman… I don’t know… I really didn’t know…”

“The equipment manufacturer said it was fine…”

He roared.

“I don’t care how you do it!”

“Get our old bottled water back!”

“If there’s nothing to drink in ten minutes, pack your things and get out!”

She scrambled for her phone and clumsily called me.

I looked at the flashing number, laughed coldly, and rejected it.

Unwilling to give up, she frantically called nearby suppliers.

“Mr. Wang? Lin Tingting from Shenghao. Please bring us a hundred jugs immediately!”

A colleague’s mocking voice answered.

“Oh, Director Lin!”

“Sorry. With all those floors, we might live to accept the order but not to deliver it.”

“Exactly! As long as you’re there, not even a dog would take Shenghao’s order!”

I sat in the station’s rocking chair and drank tea leisurely.

A guest who loved gossip happened to be livestreaming from the conference.

On my screen, the lobby was completely out of control.

“Can anyone believe this? I came to a high-end investment conference and nearly got poisoned by their water!”

Comments filled the screen, mocking Shenghao.

I sneered. She had brought it on herself.

On the livestream, supplier after supplier ridiculed her.

Less than three minutes remained.

A thousand clients crowded the hall, demanding water and an explanation.

Several wealthy executives smashed cups onto the floor.

“Is this how Shenghao treats partners?”

“We can’t even get clean water, and you want to discuss projects worth tens of millions?”

“Refunds! Cancel the cooperation!”

The chairman trembled with rage and pointed at her.

“Two minutes!”

“If you can’t bring water, you’ll bear every loss today!”

Terrified, she dropped to her knees and clutched the leg of a middle-aged man beside her.

“Cousin! Help me!”

“You approved the budget! You found the supplier!”

This was Shenghao’s deputy general manager, Zhao Gang.

His face went pale. He lifted a foot and kicked her hard in the chest.

“Liar!”

“You insisted on your revenue-and-cost scheme!”

“Stop slandering me. I know nothing!”

The chairman abruptly turned toward him.

“You won’t escape involvement, Zhao Gang.”

“If this isn’t settled, both of you are going to the police station!”

Zhao Gang was drenched in sweat and utterly panicked.

Just then, my phone rang again.

The property manager of the neighboring office building.

“Mr. Chen, our water supply suddenly failed. We urgently need a hundred jugs of mineral water.”

“Money isn’t a problem. Can you bring them now?”

I immediately stood and shouted:

“Crew, we’ve got a big order!”

“Into the trucks! The building next to Shenghao!”

Five minutes later, I parked our largest truck outside Shenghao’s glass doors.

Large lettering on its side read: Premium bottled water. In stock. Immediate delivery.

I rolled down the window and deliberately sounded the horn.

Hearing it, Lin Tingting turned desperately toward the windows.

At the sight of my truck, loaded with over a hundred full jugs, her eyes lit up.

She stumbled out and threw herself at my cab door.

“Mr. Chen! Chen!”

“Water! Get the water inside!”

“More than a thousand people are waiting!”

I exhaled a ring of smoke without looking directly at her.

“Poor memory, Director Lin?”

“Yesterday, you said Shenghao would never use our cheap bottled water again.”

“This order belongs to the neighboring building. Nothing to do with you.”

She stamped in desperation, tears covering her face.

“I was wrong! I was joking yesterday!”
