Chapter 6

We left the cave residence.
Dark clouds filled the sky. Heavy yin energy pressed down.
An eerie red light glimmered in the platform’s defensive formation.
I flew up to examine it.
A cold voice sounded behind me.
“Clever people die quickly, Tử Linh.”
The sect leader appeared like a ghost.
Blood-red eyes.
Shriveled limbs.
Half human, half specter.
The Law Enforcement Elder stood behind him like a puppet.
“You?”
Never would I have imagined the Blood-Drinking Patriarch was the sect leader—my mother’s master, who had cherished me since childhood.
“I possessed the Mystic Clarity Sect’s leader and spent so much effort nurturing your mother.”
“Yet the child she conceived was a girl with an attribute incompatible with mine.”
“A waste.”
“Fortunately, you have some ability.”
“You actually conceived the Mystic Serpent bloodline.”
“Another hundred years of planning well spent.”
“Today, I’ll sacrifice the sect’s disciples.”
“And refine the fetuses in your belly into my Supreme Dharma Body.”
He spread his arms, laughing wildly.
A blood moon rose.
His famed treasure, the Soul-Devouring Pearl.
The mountain’s protective formation blazed blood-red, joining the platform formation to weave an inescapable net.
Every elder and disciple fell into an unnatural sleep.
【This body can’t fight him.】
【I need my main body.】
【Hold on a moment, Master.】
Sensing danger, Mặc Thanh immediately hopped away.
“Demon! Die!”
I merged with my sword, a streak of violet charging at his chest.
Halfway there, my strength vanished.
I fell.
“Little girl.”
“All the pills I gave you over the years were meant to channel your spiritual power into the fetuses once you conceived.”
“Be good and die.”
He bound me and hung me above a black altar.

“Good little darlings.”
“Eat plenty of flesh.”
“Grow quickly.”
He stared at my belly.
Sticky red light poured from the pearl, wildly drawing blood energy and spirits from the disciples.
Where the hell was Mặc Thanh?
If he didn’t arrive, he could prepare to be a widower.
I was frantic but dared show nothing.
Then wind roared through heaven and earth.
A great black serpent appeared, horned and winged, its enormous mouth open.
“Ah!”
He swallowed the pearl whole.
And crunched.
【Ugh.】
【Stinks.】
【Disgusting.】
【If I weren’t saving Master, nothing would make me eat this.】
【But it’s nourishing.】
【My demonic power’s tripled.】
【I’ll kill the old fiend this time.】
“Mặc Thanh!”
“You’re alive?”
The Patriarch summoned a blood sword.
It became a blood dragon charging at the serpent.
“Old monster.”
“You dare bully my wife?”
“I’ll beat you to death.”
Mặc Thanh twisted.
His huge black tail swept across.
A crash.
The blood dragon shattered.
The Patriarch paled.
Black blood spilled from his mouth.
He dared not fight on and fled.
That body was collapsing.
He needed another possession.
“Hold him!”
As long as his soul survived, he would keep harming people.
“Wife.”
“Do it yourself.”
Mặc Thanh breathed a dense cloud of spiritually charged black energy toward me.
My belly warmed.
My power returned.
The bindings snapped.
【Mommy!】
【Over there! There!】
A childish voice rang in my mind.
A fist-sized red light darted through the mountains.
The Patriarch’s soul.
Seeing me pursue, he vanished.
I searched everywhere in vain.
Just as despair rose, two thumb-sized black serpent shapes flew from my belly.
They entered dry grass beneath a tree and bit at empty air.
The Patriarch appeared immediately.
Held in the little serpent fetuses’ mouths.
Struggling madly.
His screams echoed through the forest.
Never had he imagined the two eggs he had so painstakingly nurtured would devour him.
“Serves him right.”
Mặc Thanh returned to human form and landed beside me.
He looked at the little ones and shook his head.
“Greedier than me.”
“They’ll be hard to raise.”
“If you won’t, I will.”
I glared.
They had avenged me.
That alone earned them a lifetime of care.
“I was wrong, wife.”
“Give me a chance.”
“I’ll be an exemplary father.”
He apologized at once.
“Who’s your wife?”
The wretched serpent seized every opportunity.
“We already have children.”
“Still denying it?”
He ventured an arm around my shoulders.
Unable to break free, I stamped on his foot.
His face twisted, but he wouldn’t let go.
The little ones finished the Patriarch, burped, and slipped back into my belly.
My eyelids grew heavy.
I fell into Mặc Thanh’s warm arms.
“Sleep, Master.”
“Everything will be fine when you wake.”
Extra: Mặc Thanh
I am the Mystic Serpent Crown Prince.
The entire clan awaited my birth.
Our kind struggled to reproduce, so I had no playmates growing up.
When I was ten, Mother conceived.
Father was wild with joy.
He had every pregnancy-supporting herb within a hundred li gathered.
I brewed medicine daily and talked to my unborn siblings.
“Your big brother is powerful.”
“No one will bully you.”
“I have lots of toys.”
“You can have them all.”
Mother always stroked her belly and smiled happily.
Sadly, the egg died before it fully formed.
My brother and sister never entered the world.
Unable to bear it, Mother fell asleep beneath Solitude Mountain.
Father followed her.
Only the elders remained to care for me.
They sighed constantly.
Our clan was in danger.
If only we had Fertility Pills.
The name lodged in my mind.
When the stranger came and said Fairy Tử Linh had the recipe, I first meant to seize it.
Then he showed me her portrait.
I decided to seize her too.
He said she loved beauty and would certainly accept me as a disciple.
I should stay beside her and cultivate affection.
Never force her.
I disguised myself as a mortal and hid in the village where she came to destroy demons.
That day, snow filled the sky.
Bodies lay everywhere.
Cold and proud as a rakshasa, one glance from her struck straight into my heart.
I followed her up the mountain.
Five years together, morning and night.
Then I fell completely.
I wanted her madly.
But feared her anger.
The stranger brought a Heart-Hearing Fruit.
He said that if it touched Tử Linh’s blood and I ate it, I would hear her thoughts.
Winning her would be easy.
I smelled the Soul-Devouring Pearl on him and began suspecting who he was.
Once I confirmed the fruit was genuine, I smeared my own blood on it and secretly fed it to Master.
The first time she heard me, she thought she had an inner demon and fled into seclusion.
Adorable.
The stranger released the corrupted fox into the sect and told me to lead her to it.
I obeyed.
Took the opportunity to be poisoned and consummate our union.
Used my thoughts to direct her suspicion toward the Law Enforcement Elder.
And hid my main body outside.
I hadn’t expected the Patriarch to be the famously kind sect leader instead.
No wonder he deceived the whole sect.
Even modified its protective formation.
Certain of victory, he summoned the pearl and activated the Blood-Drinking Formation.
I returned to my main body and swallowed the pearl.
Then passed Mystic Serpent vital energy to Master.
Her power returned.
With the little ones helping, we destroyed him.
Everything went according to plan.
Except…
Master conceived two eggs.
She slept for ten years.
The eggs hatched safely.
I raised both children alone.
I’m exhausted.
Given another chance, I’d never let her conceive.
A forbidden pill like the Fertility Pill should disappear forever.
Childcare is exhausting.
Exhausting.
Five days until Master wakes.
At last, my suffering will end.
Enough talk.
The children are awake.
I have to feed them and clean up after them.
— THE END —
