Jiang Wan’s Secret Savings

Chapter 10

Edward Quan ·

“I bought a home,” I said. “Before you finished the installments. Eight hundred thousand down, exactly what was in my term-deposit account.”

“Don’t get ideas.”

I interrupted.

“It’s in my name.”

“You’re just staying with me.”

“You pay rent every month.”

“Three thousand.”

“Three thousand again?”

“Yes. Installments finished. Rent begins.”

“Jiang Wan, you’re the most calculating woman I’ve ever met.”

“Do you regret it?”

“No.”

“Being with you is what makes it feel like a family.”

My eyes stung.

“If you ever lie to me again—”

“That day won’t come.”

“You promise?”

“I promise. With the rest of my life.”

“You changing your mind.”

“About what?”

“Letting me hold your hand.”

My grip tightened.
