Chapter 2
Edward Quan ·
Seriously?
Tired?
This was why I'd come home!
4
Normally, I wouldn't even have to initiate anything.
He'd have devoured me the moment we got through the door.
What was wrong with him today?
Far too strange!
After saying that, he actually moved around me and found another spot to do the washing.
As though afraid I'd try something.
Annoyed, I went back to the bedroom to put on body lotion.
Another message from Cai Zhaozhao.
A photo of a young man's bare back.
【Sampled him! Ninety-nine-percent rare quality~】
I gritted my teeth.
【Stop showing off!】
【Wait. Is your Ning Tianye not providing satisfactory service?】
Humiliated, I sent a nodding sticker.
【Current total: zero times.】
【Oh! What's wrong? Technical problem? Getting his fill elsewhere?】
Surely not.
We'd married after a blind date.
He was the grandson of my mother's colleague. We knew his background. His character was dependable.
Back then, Mom had been relentless about marriage, arranging dates whenever I came home.
When I learned he was two years younger, I hadn't wanted to go. I'd even declared that I would never date a younger man.
Which proved you should never speak too soon.
I liked him the first time we met.
He seemed to like me, too. Before long, he'd happily agreed to register our marriage.
Married life had always been harmonious.
Today was a first.
Cai Zhaozhao offered a plan.
【Try seducing him again. A gorgeous, delicious woman right there at home? I refuse to believe he can sit still.】
She had a point.
I decided to find something skimpy for extra impact.
But after turning out my wardrobe, I found pitifully few clothes.
All long sleeves and long pants.
Thinking about it, that made sense.
Before, at home, I could hardly keep my underwear on.
Never mind clothes.
In the end, I pulled on a huge T-shirt and pajama pants and went out.
Ning Tianye had finished the laundry and was cooking.
Tall, lean, solemnly wearing an apron.
A different sort of charm.
At my footsteps, he glanced over.
Then immediately looked away, his ears reddening.
"Why are you dressed so sexily?"
I looked down at my homeless-person outfit.
Seriously?
Sexy?
Did he need to come to his senses?

This time, I clung to him and wheedled softly.
"Honey... I kind of want to..."
His knife stopped over the vegetables.
His breathing grew heavier.
He nearly gave in.
Then he remembered Cui Ting's phrase—breakup sex—and forced himself to endure.
"Stop it!"
With one hand, he detached me.
"I'm not in the mood."
"Really?"
Anger was rising.
"That might be more convincing if your little friend wasn't standing to attention."
I couldn't understand.
He was clearly aroused. Why did he keep rejecting me?
Awkwardly, he coughed.
"Just a normal physiological response."
"Fine, Ning Tianye. Excellent. Don't expect me to make the first move ever again!"
Furious, I kicked the kitchen door aside, stormed into the bedroom and locked it.
Then I grabbed his pillow and punched it over and over.
Hahaha! Hilarious! A normal physiological response!
Hahaha! Fucking brilliant!
I'm. Not. In. The. Mood.
Then who was he in the mood for?
Another woman?
The more I thought, the angrier and more hurt I became. Tears began to fall.
We hadn't even been married that long.
How could he treat me like this?
I called Cai Zhaozhao.
Sniffling, I said, "I think he's cheating. Saving himself for another woman."
6
"Seriously?!"
She was instantly furious on my behalf.
"What the hell? I'll think of ways to deal with him!"
I complained until late.
Outside, the lights came on.
Ning Tianye knocked and called me to dinner.
I ignored him.
After a month of filming on five hours' sleep a night, I really was exhausted.
Still on the call, I drifted off.
It wasn't a restful sleep.
Perhaps my frustrated desire during the day was to blame for the vivid dream.
In it, his kisses kept falling, fierce and wet.
His broad hands moved over my skin, sending tremors through me.
His hot breath surrounded me. For a moment, I couldn't tell dream from reality.
But the bedroom door was locked...
Gradually, I relaxed and lost myself in the dream.
The next morning, I slept until nearly noon.
Despite all that sleep, I felt inexplicably weak and limp.
The bedroom door was still securely locked.
When I came out after washing, he was in the living room.
Breakfast was laid out. He'd even pulled out my chair.
My heart ached.
Handsome. Incredible body. Did all the housework. Exceptionally attentive.
Such a good man.
What a shame he no longer belonged entirely to me.
My mood sank to the bottom.
The instant he saw me, his eyes followed.
"Shen Qing. Come and eat."
"Not hungry."
My answer was cold.
I went to the dressing room to find something to wear.
I was going to see Cai Zhaozhao.
But after searching several times, I still couldn't find my favorite bra.
What was going on?
